What is art therapy?

Art therapy is the use of art to treat psychological disorders. Art techniques like sketching, painting, drawing, colouring or even doodling is used to study the emotional state of a person. The information which is revealed is looked into by a certified or guided art coach.

Why is art therapy used?

Art or drawing is a universal language. The written or spoken word can be conveyed in many languages. Other times there might be a situation where the person cannot speak at all, like in case of a small child. Art therapy gives a easy way out to communicate. Just ask the person in front of you to draw in whatever medium he or she is happy or comfortable.
